Barcelona, 18 June 2025 — The Global Think-tank on Steatotic Liver Disease has officially endorsed the Global Metabolic Health Roundtable (GMHR) Series, a strategic initiative co-led by the Healthy Livers Healthy Lives (HLHL) Coalition and ISGlobal’s Public Health Liver Group. The series is designed to address the growing public health threat of MASLD/MASH and other major non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The endorsement underscores the Think-tank’s commitment to connecting science, policy, care—and people—to raise global recognition of chronic liver disease, particularly due to MASLD/MASH, as critical components of the metabolic health crisis.

“Initiatives like the Global Metabolic Health Roundtable Series reflect exactly the kind of multidisciplinary, collaborative momentum we need. By joining forces across regions and sectors, we are becoming more powerful as a unified voice for action.”

The first part of the GMHR Series brings together researchers, policymakers, clinicians, advocates, and people with lived experience from across Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East in virtual roundtable discussions. The conversations aim to strengthen the integration of liver health within national and global NCD responses.

These lively, regionally grounded discussions will, in turn, serve as key contributions to the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-level Meeting on NCDs in September 2025, where an in-person GMHR side-event will be held in New York City. The series complements other side-events during the World Health Assembly (May 2025, Geneva) and will culminate with a session on metabolic health at the World Health Summit (October 2025, Berlin).

The Global Think-tank on Steatotic Liver Disease shares this momentum. Its long-term vision is clear: by 2030, liver health must be fully embedded within city, national, and global strategies—contributing to fewer preventable deaths, reduced health inequities, and stronger, more coordinated responses to metabolic disease worldwide.

This endorsement reaffirms a shared belief: that global, multidisciplinary collaboration is essential—not optional—for systemic change.
